Do remove the nipple, maybe even that flash channel manufacturing plug that some call a clean out screw. Put the breech in a bucket of water. Add some soap to aid cleaning especially if you use an oil or greasy patch lubricant.I like the fact that they have a hole cross drilled horizontally in the area where the cap sits. These hole direct the blow back gases outward and help split the cap for easy removal. My other choice of nipples would be the Knight "Red Hot". Both nipples come in sizes to fit your rifles. Use a mix of beeswax and either mutton tallow or Crisco melted together to lubricate the threads. Look up "Roubo" bench online. The metal vises are from Woodcraft I believe. They cost about $90 at the time (10 years ago). The rotating jaws are very useful. The leg vises on the bench are very handy and have tremendous holding power.Coat the entire circumference of the barrel in a generous area around the sight. Solder won't stick to the soap stone so make sure everything is well covered around the sight. Remove the clamped sight and "tin" the sight base with regular low temp plumber's solder. I bought the 3/8 and with a little judicious filing on them they fit the CVA dovetails. I didn't want to enlarge the dovetails in case I went back to the stock sights.
