The sensor is standing up with the plug on top. I've replaced crankshaft position sensor, it seems like camshaft sensor removal/reinstall should be similar. You'd need 10mm thin wall socket or a philips screw driver. I have done several swaps in different vehicles and this one took me 5 days working 3-4 hours a night. You have to pull half the motor apart to get it out.
